About Jill

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Species: Dog
  • Rescue ID: CAC0920Jill
  • Housetrained: Yes
Jill is about 4 or 5 years old and weighs 56 lbs. She is a very nice dog and wants to get playful at times, usually with other dogs. She is completely house-trained and she always wants to be nearby her people. She came from a family that had cats and children. Jill does not need to be crated or otherwise confined when her foster family leaves the house. Her foster home has a doggie door, which she uses to go out to a fenced in back yard. Jill gets walked daily for about an hour early every morning. She gets worked up sometimes when she encounters other people – joggers, cyclists, and primarily other dog walkers. Not every time, but it’s something that her owner will have to be ready to anticipate. It doesn’t appear to be aggression; she just wants to meet others. But this is something that will need to be carefully managed. To her credit, she has been getting better when she gets close to others and is less unpredictable – although she still gets excited and pulls on the leash when her walkers pass by other dogs. She has shown continuous improvement, but caution is still (and may always will be) necessary. Jill has gone to doggie day care a couple of times, but it didn’t appear that she loved it. Jill is not a chewer or much of a barker. Her energy level is moderate, but she can go all day if her owner has a lot of activity. She loves to play tug of war with her rope toy. She knows ‘sit’ and ‘twirl around’, and probably knows other things too that we haven’t yet discovered. She is quiet in the house, well-behaved, and very sweet. Jill also enjoys playing in the yard with another foster mate, a male hound much younger than herself. **Dogs listed here have entered our program and have received a basic level of vet care including: vaccines (DHLPP & Rabies); bloodwork (heartworm test); deworm and deflea; spay or neuter; vet exam. Each pet comes with one free vet follow up consultation at Red Bank Vet Hospital. Fees requested at time of adoption help with a small part of the care provided, and are non-refundable.
